During labour, the body produces hormones like Oxytonin, which is natures pain reliever and allows the cervix to soften and relax. If you are feeling overly anxious and stressed, then the hormone that we produce is the stress hormone, Adrenaline, the hormone for ‘flight or fight’. This hormone interferes with the production of Oxytonin and so prevents the muscles responsible for childbirth to be as effective as they can be.
Some level of stress during labour is normal, but by learning these safe hypnotherapy techniques, you can feel empowered to it deliver your baby in a calm and relaxed way.
Hypnotherapy in childbirth is a natural approach with no risk of harmful side-effects. You will learn the techniques to relax throughout labour and remain in control, whilst still being able to be aware of all that is going on around you and to respond to your midwife and the medical team.
Throughout pregnancy, you will have regular sessions during which time you will experience the relaxation techniques that you will need during labour. This is perfect too in helping to address any fears that you may have during pregnancy, so that by the time that your baby is due, you will be feeling calm , confident and in control..
For Dads too, a new baby on the way can cause all manner of anxieties and fears, which again can be addressed by using the anxiety reducing techniques of Hypnotherapy.
You are given free CD’s to support the practice sessions that will take place in the weeks before birth. These can be used at home to help both parents to practice the required techniques.
